Danny Valley

So it looks like after a long spell of no games due to bad weather we might finally get a game starting with Wycombe on the 16th hopefully this game will kick off our 2010 campaign and get us back up to our rightful second place as we saw recently we dropped down to third. So Until the 16 keep hoping for everything to go well and well for it at least not to snow in Wycombe.

Would you look at that the mighty Leeds had to make way for the even mightier Charlton ! The goals started early on with a beautiful header by Sodje in the 8th minute. Of course Huddersfield have a reputation for scoring so what did they do they scored ! A very good free kick that left Elliot with no chance of even trying to save it !

It was not until the second half that we went in front and there where many chances from Huddersfield but we managed to stay on top. Finally McLeod scored a header to put us in front.

Huddersfield then went on to score but have it ruled out for a foul, we where extremely lucky.

So now that we are top of the table we need to try to stay there, but of course it is almost impossible to stay there till May but we at least need to be there poking our heads in constantly trying and trying to get in to the top spot. The team is fine so I would have no clue what Parky will do in the January Transfer window but whatever he does I hope it does not weaken the strong team we have now, perhaps a stronger defender but as I said I think the team is fine.

I have been a bit busy so I have not had time to post about the game However know after watching the highlights I think that we should have come away with 3 points. In the first half we only had one scare and even then it was not even on target. We however had been trying and did hit the wood work a few times in the first half. Later on in the second Oldham scored but it was not to be as it eas ruled out for an offence before the goal. After that I think that Izale McLeod should defiantly work on shooting after missing which anyone would say was an easy shot! I think that we deserved the win and where very unlucky to draw .

Great game both sided having a run for there money. Leeds got the movement and the chances earlie from Beckford lots of people expecting that one to go in ! But we where not far behind them with getting the ball down there. It was a very good run down the right wing by Richardson ,a former Leeds  Player, Such  a shame that Jonjo’s header did not go in.  Beckford has another good chance and it nearly went in! We  played extremely well and I am suprised that either team did not score. Leeds where always going to be a hard challenge  they almos got promoted in the past two years and it is obvious that this year they where going to try there hardest yet again. Rob Elliot was given a run for his money later on when he had to do a beutyfull save off a really good Johnson shot. The secomd half was not much diferent from the first half there was  a lot of chances between both sides and posesion was not really too much one sided. Where I think Charlton should work on from this game is not so much the striking area but much more the defending. Although some of the striking  from Leeds was very good we could have done  a better job and if it was not for Elliot we probably would have been at least one goal  down.

So much for staying unbeaten what a thrashing by Colchester. Miguel Angel Llera scoring a stupid own goal. If he was going to pass back surely he should have told the keeper so that he could kick it out. But no he headers in and own goal. And then Colchester played extremely good football and doubled there lead the goal was quite good but they never should have let him cut down the left  they should have defended more. When they sealed the game it was a stupid goal Bailey should have acted quicker and cleared the ball. So a series of stupid mistakes lead to a stupid defeat. I believe that if we had concentrated more and had  not been so sure that we where going to win we would have standed a chance as Bailey and Jonjo showed us in the late on. I believe that we should now work to put that defeat in the past and try are very hardest at the next game. Because we had been unbeaten I think the team where a bit full of themselves and over confident.
